Based in Newbury, Butterfly Hats is owned by established Berkshire Milliner, Michelle Boyt.

With a wealth of experience gained from producing bespoke millinery for members of The Royal Family, Downton Abbey, ITV Racing and Sky Sports to name but a few. Michelle is expertly placed to bring your creative vision to life after initially learning her couture skills under the guidance of former Royal Milliner, Jane Corbett of Hungerford.

Now working alongside good friend and fellow milliner, Amanda Denton, this collaboration has seen the opening of the hat shop located in Lambourn, Valley of the Racehorse.

Our association with local equine heritage continues with official partnerships now at both Newbury Racecourse and Royal Windsor Racecourse, providing valuable opportunities to meet with new customers across the full racing calendar. Both Michelle and Amanda are absolutely delighted to work with these prestigious locations which further support our commitment and passion for local business growth across Berkshire.

As each hat created is a totally unique piece, never repeated - every hat has its very own name.

Continuing with the racing theme, each Autumn/Winter hat adopts the name of a jumps racehorse and the Spring/Summer collection are all attributed with flat season horses. Take a look, some may be familiar…

The hats on this website represent just a small selection taken from a much larger collection of ready-to-wear pieces always available at the hat shop in Lambourn, which are also available to purchase on many race day retail pop-ups at both Newbury Racecourse and Royal Windsor Racecourse. Do remember that each hat is uniquely created - so if you see a hat you like, please do not miss an opportunity to secure it as the design will not be repeated.

The shop in Lambourn is open by appointment only to allow privacy and dedicated time for each customer - Please do just call to make an appointment at your convenience, and remember to bring your outfits with you to colour match.

We offer a full bespoke service for all customers, so whether you are an experienced hat wearer or a complete novice, we can offer our guidance and expertise as required.

As a guideline, please allow a minimum of 4-6 weeks for individual commissions (this time may increase during the peak season running up to Royal Ascot)
